The Clinical Therapist will be responsible for clinical services and general case management within the context of a treatment team for children and families served by The Children’s Center of Hamden. In this position the Clinical Therapist will be responsible for providing various types of counseling and therapy to children and families. The Clinical Therapist is part of a multidisciplinary team and is responsible for providing information, strategies and a clinical perspective, along with promoting teamwork in the treatment of children. The Clinical Therapist will be the liaison to outside agencies and personnel; DCF, hospitals, insurance/managed care, the legal system, private consultants, etc. The Clinical Therapist will be accountable to the Clinical Coordinator. The Clinical Therapist is expected to maintain appropriate personal boundaries with all people while on shift. The Clinical Therapist is expected to be sensitive to a culturally diverse population. The Clinical Therapist will be expected to perform other related duties.
Schedule and Days off: Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 5 p.m. Hours have some flexibility to meet the needs of our clients.
Requirements:
- Working knowledge of DSM IV.
- Ability to engage clients in a therapeutic relationship in individual,
family and group modalities of treatment. - Clinical experience working with youth, adolescents & families.
- Must be a Masters level clinician (MSWs must have received LMSW license) with license eligibility.
- Bi-lingual in English/Spanish preferred.
- Valid CT driver’s license.
Experience:
One year experience. Training in child psychopathology and developmental psychology.
