Our programs provide comprehensive behavioral health services in a safe and nurturing environment for children with behavioral, emotional, or learning disabilities.

The at-risk children who are referred to us have a wide array of problems and issues with which to deal. That’s why The Children’s Center of Hamden has an equally wide array of services to help them, including periodic visits, daily interactions, treatment in one of our specialized living units, and many other options in between.

Please visit the individual program pages for samples of our success stories.

Our behavioral health services are specifically designed to support children and teens who struggle with learning disabilities, addiction to drugs or alcohol or other disruptive or dysfunctional behaviors. We have a philosophy that has served our students well for many years: all of our programs actively engage the family members of every child or teen who comes to The Children’s Center of Hamden. This is accomplished via ongoing communication, family therapy, family visits, and many family-inclusive events.

The Center is proud of its long history of meeting the licensing requirements of state agencies. We are approved by the State Department of Education to provide onsite K-12 education for children with learning disabilities and/or disruptive behaviors.

A further testament to our commitment to excellence is our voluntary application for ongoing accreditation by The Joint Commission, the premiere accrediting organization for health care providers. The Center has earned its prestigious Behavioral Health Accreditation every year since 1986.
