In June of 2006, The Children's Center of Hamden opened the Gate House Group
Home. The Gate House Group Home is a program funded by a grant through the
Department of Children and Families of Connecticut. It provides comprehensive
services to 5 adolescent male youths between the ages of 14 and 21.
The young men in the Gate House typically have histories of sexual abuse, and have successfully completed a residential program prior to admission for treatment of sexualized behaviors.
Youths housed at the Group Home are referred by the Department of Children and
Famlies and are transitioned from residential programs from in and outside of
the State of Connecticut.
Services provided include: a therapeutic milieu coupled with behavior
motivation; trauma informed individual and group therapy; family therapy; case
management; medical services and psychiatric consultation.
